How to schedule SMS messages for StreetText in Follow Up Boss

Creating notes in Follow Up Boss, either manually or as part of an action plan, with commands at the beginning can prompt StreetText to send messages to your leads after a delay of your choosing.

The command must be placed at the beginning of the note. Adding one or more newlines after the command is optional. Only one command per note is allowed.

Commands

Command

Description

[now]

Send the message immediately, regardless of business hours.

[scheduled]

Sends the message immediately during business hours, or queues it for sending the next business day (as configured in your StreetText settings).

[<relative time>]

Examples:

  • [30s]

  • [1m]

  • [7m]

  • [15m]

  • [2h]

  • [6h]

Waits for the indicated time to send the message. If the time falls outside of business hours, it will be sent at the start of the next business day.

Limitations:

  • 1-12 hours

  • 1-60 minutes

  • 1-60 seconds

  • Cannot be combined (eg. 1h30m)

  • Whole numbers only

[<absolute time>]

Examples:

  • [12pm]

  • [3PM]

  • [10:30am]

  • [5:45PM]

  • [16:15]

Sends at the indicated time. If the time falls outside of business hours, it will be sent at the start of the next business day.

If the time is in the past, the message will be sent immediately.

Limitations:

  • If AM/PM are not provided, 24-hour time will be assumed (eg. 5:30 will be treated as 5:30AM)

[delete]

or

[remove]

or

(empty note)

The scheduled SMS related to this note will be cancelled (if it hasn't been sent yet) and the note deleted.

Deleting all of a note's text will also work.

All supported keywords:

  • delete

  • deleted

  • remove

  • removed

  • cancel

  • canceled

  • cancelled

  • stop

Avoiding Conflicts with Other Integrations

If you're using other integrations that also respond to [commands] at the beginning of your notes, you can use curly braces instead of square brackets.

For example: {2h}, {scheduled}, {12:00}, etc.

Status Reactions

When StreetText processes a note command, we will add a specific reaction to the note to confirm the request has been handled or to signal a problem.

Manually adding or removing reactions will have no effect -- they are only used as status indicators.

Due to the way the Follow Up Boss reactions API works, the reactions will appear to come from you.

Reaction

Meaning

πŸ•‘

The message has been scheduled.

🀷

The command was not recognized.

This may be due to an invalid or unsupported time (eg [32:85], [18h]), or a typo in the command ([schedult])

🀐

A time was provided without a message, so there's nothing to send.

πŸ”

We could not match your Follow Up Boss contact with a StreetText lead.

πŸ“΅

We have no valid phone number for your lead on StreetText.

⚠️

The message failed to send. Check your Conversations view in StreetText for more details.

β›”

StreetText doesn't know what your business hours are yet.

Set them under Hours and Timezone in your StreetText settings.

πŸ™‹

Examples

The following examples assume your business hours are 8am-8pm, Mon-Fri.

πŸ’‘A command can be on its own line, or on the same line as your message, so long as it is at the beginning of the note.

[scheduled] Hi there, thanks for reaching out. How can I help you?
  • Note created at 10am: Sent immediately

  • Note created at 10pm: Sent at the beginning of your next business day (eg. 8am on Monday if the note was created at 2pm on Saturday)

I'm really looking forward to working with you!
  • Note created at 3pm on Monday: Message will be sent at 4pm on Monday

  • Note created at 7:30pm on Monday: Message will be sent at 8am on Tuesday

[now]

Hello! I just got your form submission, and I'll have more information for you as soon as possible!
  • The message will be sent immediately, regardless of what time it is.
(Use with caution, as this ignores your business hours)

  • Note created at 3pm: Message will be sent immediately

  • Note created at 10pm: Message will be sent the next business day at 8am
