Choosing which notes StreetText's AI can read

Decide whether StreetText's AI may use your contact notes, account-wide in Settings and note by note with the sparkle icon.

Written by Stephen Whiting

Your contact notes often hold useful context: what a client is hoping to buy, their timeline, what they told you on the phone. They can also hold private remarks you would never want quoted back in a text. You decide which notes StreetText's AI is allowed to read when it writes messages and builds insights about a contact.

Set the default for your account

Owners and admins can choose what happens to notes by default.

  1. Go to Settings > Notes and AI.

  2. Turn Use notes with AI on or off.

  3. A popup asks you to confirm. Changing this setting switches your existing notes to match, so read it before you confirm. Choose Cancel to leave everything as it is.

  4. Once saved, you will see how many of your notes the AI can now use.

Every new note follows this default, whether you add it yourself or it arrives from an import or an integration.

Switch a single note on or off

Each note has a small sparkle icon beside the edit and delete buttons.

  • Coloured sparkle: the AI can use this note.

  • Grey sparkle with a slash: the note is private and the AI will not read it.

Click the sparkle to switch it. Hover over it to see its current state. You will find it everywhere notes appear: the contact page timeline, the contact panel in Conversations, and the Notes window on the Contacts list.

Teammates

Agents can switch the notes they wrote themselves. Notes written by others show a greyed-out sparkle they can't change. Only owners and admins see Notes and AI in Settings.

Good to know

  • Making a note private does not change messages that were already drafted from it.

  • If you add notes through the StreetText API, you can choose for each note whether the AI may use it. If you don't say, your account default applies.
