Welcome to your guide for the new AI Smart Suggestions feature in StreetText! This powerful tool, also known as "Smart Julie," is designed to help you manage lead conversations more efficiently, teach you effective communication strategies, and ultimately book more appointments by handling text message responses for you. This feature is included at no extra cost for all users with the StreetText texting plan.
Step 1: Enabling the Feature
First, you need to activate the AI in your account.
Go to Settings
Click on Conversations
Toggle on Enable AI Smart Suggestions.
Step 2: Initial Configuration (Crucial for Success)
Before the AI can work effectively, ensure the following settings are correct:
Profile Information: The AI uses your profile to introduce you and your business. Make sure these fields are complete.
Your Name
Business Name
Phone Number: You must use a mobile phone number here. This is how the system will text you notifications to review and approve messages.
Website: It is highly recommended that you add your website URL. The AI can use this to provide context to leads, preventing it from sharing incorrect information.
Business Hours: The AI respects your time. It will only send messages and suggestions during the business hours you have set in your account. If a lead messages you after hours, the AI will hold its response until your business hours begin again. Be sure to check these settings to avoid unexpected delays.
Customize the Goal (Optional): The AI's primary goal is to reconnect with leads, build rapport, and schedule a call. You have the ability to edit this prompt if you have a different goal in mind. You can always restore the original prompt by clicking the "back to the default prompt" button.
Step 3: Understanding the Two Modes of Operation
The feature can operate in two distinct ways. It is highly recommended to start with Mode 1 to learn how the AI responds.
Mode 1: Review & Approve (Recommended Start)
This "hybrid" mode allows you to maintain full control over every message sent.
How it Works:
When a lead sends you a text message, the AI automatically generates a suggested response.
You will receive a text message on your mobile phone with a link to review the suggestion.
Clicking the link opens a mobile-friendly page where you can see the conversation history and the AI's proposed message.
Your Options on the Review Screen:
Quick Approve and Send: If the message looks good, one click sends it to the lead.
Send an edited message: If you want to make a small change, you can quickly edit the text and then send it.
Reject the message: If the suggestion is not appropriate, you can reject it and write your own response from scratch.
Mode 2: Fully Automated (Auto-Approve & Send)
Once you are comfortable with the quality of the AI's suggestions, you can enable the fully automated mode.
How to Activate: In the Conversations settings, toggle on Auto-approve and send suggestions
How it Works:
When a lead sends a text, the AI will generate a response.
After a short, natural-seeming time delay, the system will automatically send the message to the lead without asking for your approval.
You can turn this feature on or off at any time.
Step 4: Providing Feedback to Improve the AI
Your feedback is essential for making the AI smarter and more tailored to your communication style.
Editing & Rejecting: When you edit or reject a message, the system analyzes those changes. Over time, this data will be used to adjust the AI's logic to better match your preferences.
Feedback Button: On the review screen, there is a small feedback button you can use to send comments directly to the development team.
Best Practices & FAQ
Integration with Follow Up Boss (FUB):
To see all AI-driven conversations logged in your FUB account, ensure you have the two-way "inbox sync" enabled in your StreetText integration settings.
You can have your FUB action plans send texts via StreetText. When a lead responds to one of those automated texts, the Smart Julie AI will kick in to handle the conversation.
Which leads should get AI messages?
The feature works great for engaging new, old, or cold leads.
What about texting limits?
Your standard texting limits apply 1000/mo. Messages sent by the AI count towards this limit.
Overage charges of 10 cents per message will apply if you go over your limit. An in-app meter will be available soon to help you track your usage.
